A Methodology Based on Bioacoustic Information for Automatic Identification of Reptiles and Anurans

Nowadays, human activity is considered one of the main risk factors for the life of reptiles and amphibians. The presence of these living beings represents a good biological indicator of an excellent environmental quality. Because of their behavior and size, most of these species are complicated to recognize in their living environment with image devices. Nevertheless, the use of bioacoustic information to identify animal species is an efficient way to sample populations and control the conservation of these living beings in large and remote areas where environmental conditions and visibility are limited. In this chapter, a novel methodology for the identification of different reptile and anuran species based on the fusion of Mel and Linear Frequency Cepstral Coefficients, MFCC and LFCC, is presented. The proposed methodology has been validated using public databases, and experimental results yielded an accuracy above 95% showing the efficiency of the proposal

During these two years, 1027 hiperectomies were performed and out of these 115 were performed after chronic pelvic pain diagnosis. Most patients were between 30 and 40 years of age with 2 or 3 children and between 40 and 50 years of age with this same parity. The most current finding was the uterus with pathological weight followed by adenomiosis and uterine fibroid. The chronic pelvic pain represented the second cause of hiperectomy in out work with 155 patients. DeCS: PAIN, HISTERECTOMY

DeCS: NEOPLASMAS DE CUELLO UTERINO, SUPERVIVENCIAS. ABSTRACT The cervix cancer takes the second place among the types of cancer in women and the fifth place among all of the types affecting the human being. A retrospective, longitudinal study was performed in patients suffering from infiltrative cervix cancer and they were given surgical treatment between 1988 and 1993 at Abel Santamaría Cuadrado General Hospital in Pinar del Río. A survey was made applying it to 37 patients; data were collected from the clinical records and from the interview to patients. Age, number of deliveries, age at the first coitus and first delivery and survival were the studied variables. It was found that 40 _ 49 year old group was the most frequent among the studied patients, all the patients had given birth, over more than half of patients started sexual relations before 17 years of age. Adolescence prevailed as first _ delivery age in patients and only one of them died during this period. DeCS: CERVIX NEOPLASM, SURVIVAL

Mola hidatiforme en un embarazo ectópico. Presentación de un caso. Hydatid mole in an ectopic pregnancy

Its incidence varies very importantly in the varuopus regions all over the world, which is not the same for the ectopic pregnancy that has increased significantly around the globe. The association between these two entities is uncommon. We presented a case with a 35 year - old person and observed this uncommon association, and performed a right salpingectomy with favorable progress. Key words: PREGNANCY, HYDATIDIFORM MOLE

    The European Solar Telescope

The European Solar Telescope (EST) is a project aimed at studying the magnetic connectivity of the solar atmosphere, from the deep photosphere to the upper chromosphere. Its design combines the knowledge and expertise gathered by the European solar physics community during the construction and operation of state-of-the-art solar telescopes operating in visible and near-infrared wavelengths: the Swedish 1m Solar Telescope, the German Vacuum Tower Telescope and GREGOR, the French Télescope Héliographique pour l'Étude du Magnétisme et des Instabilités Solaires, and the Dutch Open Telescope. With its 4.2 m primary mirror and an open configuration, EST will become the most powerful European ground-based facility to study the Sun in the coming decades in the visible and near-infrared bands. EST uses the most innovative technological advances: the first adaptive secondary mirror ever used in a solar telescope, a complex multi-conjugate adaptive optics with deformable mirrors that form part of the optical design in a natural way, a polarimetrically compensated telescope design that eliminates the complex temporal variation and wavelength dependence of the telescope Mueller matrix, and an instrument suite containing several (etalon-based) tunable imaging spectropolarimeters and several integral field unit spectropolarimeters. This publication summarises some fundamental science questions that can be addressed with the telescope, together with a complete description of its major subsystems
